Connect Booksmate to ChatGPT

Prerequisites

  • A Booksmate account. If you do not have one, create one here first.
  • Access to ChatGPT with MCP support (available in ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise plans).

Setup

Paste this into ChatGPT:

Set up Booksmate from booksmate.com/agents

Or add the endpoint yourself (Settings, then MCP or Integrations):

https://mcp.booksmate.com

Sign in to Booksmate in the browser window and click Authorize. Done.

Security note: ChatGPT shows a warning for custom MCP servers that OpenAI has not independently reviewed. Booksmate uses OAuth 2.1 authentication and is CASA Tier 2 certified, GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA compliant.

Start using Booksmate in ChatGPT

  1. Start a new chat in ChatGPT.
  2. Select or enable the Booksmate MCP server in the chat.
  3. Test the connection by asking: "List my Booksmate organizations."
  4. Booksmate will ask you to select an organization if you have more than one.

Once that works, you are ready to use Booksmate in ChatGPT. Try searching invoices, analysing spending, uploading documents, scanning email, or exporting to your accounting software.

What you can do

  • Search documents: find invoices and receipts by vendor, date, amount, status, category, or currency.
  • Upload files: upload invoice and receipt files for AI extraction.
  • Summarise spend: group spend by vendor, month, category, currency, document type, or direction.
  • Scan email: trigger ingestion for connected Gmail or Microsoft inboxes.
  • Find duplicates: check for possible duplicate invoices.
  • Package documents: create a ZIP of selected documents for accountant handoff.
  • Export: export documents to Xero or Google Drive.

Troubleshooting

If the MCP server does not appear in your chat, make sure you have enabled it under the MCP or Integrations section. If you see an authentication error, try disconnecting and reconnecting following the steps above. Verify the endpoint URL is exactly https://mcp.booksmate.com with no trailing slash.
